Prepare

As the summer starts to draw to a close, I look to the future, thinking and planning for the term and year ahead. I do this both for my work and personal life.

One of the things I do is make Christmas cakes (sorry to all who hate thinking about such things so early!)

This gives time for the flavours to develop and for me to ‘feed’ each cake over the coming weeks so they will be fully ready when I need them.

It involves me accessing written and physical resources that I have prepared beforehand and using them to their full potential.

It costs more money & time in the short term, but is a lot cheaper and more tailored to what I want, than getting last minute cakes of the same quality in December.

What would you like to achieve?

What resources do you have to help?

Who has strengths that you can partner with to help you achieve the goals?

In summary:

1. Start to look forward and prepare for the months ahead so you & your organisation will be ready to deal with whatever life throws at you.

2. Invest regularly in those you lead so they develop and mature.

3. Look for resources or people who can help you with this.

Remember- start planning now and investing in the future- it can be more expensive in the short term, but is a lot cheaper and more tailored to your needs than a last minute dash to respond to an urgent situation.
